My Lazy Life Playlist

Being an out of school lady that I am, it sucks to wake up everyday and do the same freaking things daily. There’s just no life at all…almost. I can’t go out as  much as I want to because I have no more allowance. I can’t afford the latest fashion trends and I cannot even save for it because, again, there’s no allowance!

So that is why I decided to share to you, imaginary readers, some of my 700+ Walkman music. 🙂

20/20 – Pupil

Pupil is a local band here in the Philippines and they are ultimately cool! This song just has a great meaning: simple and no fuss kind of love song. I also love the way it was written, very poetic. ‘I wish that I could see the world through your eyes.‘ If that song was ever sung to me by anyone, I wouldn’t be able to hide my happiness! 🙂

Answer The Phone – Sugar Ray

This song’s guitar and drum beats and feel just picks up my mood from the ground. Starts with the simple head-bobbing then comes the mouthing of lyrics and the total rockstar-like singing that nobody would ever like to see me doing, no doubt.

Coming Around Again – Simon Webbe

This is my official good-vibes song! It’s so official, it has got to have its own title coming from me! I love it and it is so massive for me that I just have to play this before I get up from bed. The meaning is just downright inspiring and simple. ‘And all your winter sorrows/Hang ’em out and dry/Throw it away/Gotta throw it away/All the colorful days my friend/Are coming around again.’ Another reason would be was I have always been in love with the boys of Blue, the British boy band, that he was, and is (check the comeback), a part of. I had the biggest crush on Simon when I was younger and I just think that Blue will never ever be Blue without him. He’s just so talented. 🙂

DashboardModest Mouse

Oh this one! I found out about this song by Modest Mouse through Glee’s Dianna Agron‘s Tumblr Blog (http://felldowntherabbithole.tumblr.com) where she posted (I am not sure if she still does) playlists. And this is not the only song I liked from her playlists! There were a lot of artists I loved and appreciated because of her. 🙂 Anyway, this song is just so weird, I have got to love it! ‘The dashboard melted/But we still have the radio.’

Fingerprints – Katy Perry

Kitty Katy! I have always loved Katy Perry but I think her music was way more better during her One Of The Boys hype because it’s more real, if you know what I’m saying. This song is also inspiring, plus the music just makes me wanna dance! Her lyric-writing ability was at its best when she wrote this song. Plus, her religious background kind of shows here too. ‘Don’t give up/But don’t give in/Build you house on the rock/Oh not in the sand/In the sand/In the sand.’ Some parts of the lyrics are downright cool and honest, something you’d like to tell someone in the face! /Oh, I’m worth more than a X/More than a toe-tagged generation/Full of regrets.’

Frankly, Mr. Shankly – The Smiths

I just have to be a fan of these guys. After 500 Days of Summer, I looked up for more of their music and found this and became an ultimate part of my playlist. I am not really a fan of the new wave era but there is something with their music that gets me. Morrisey’s vocals are just soothing, it relaxes me all throughout. And how could be a song without a chprus or hook be so catchy? ‘Oh I didn’t realize you wrote poetry/I didn’t realize you wrote such pretty awful poetry/Mr. Shankly.’

Mr. Medicine – Eliza Doolittle

‘First drop and you get up/There’s a pile of dirty laundry/I know you’ll clean it up/You’re the man to do it for me’ This is an example of amazing Brit-music. Eliza just made me a certified Brit-music fan through her music. 🙂 And they say she wrote this when she was 12; how more talented could she ever be? This takes my boredom away and carries me off to daydream land. 🙂

TKP: 포미닛 (4minute)

Here’s the first of my project (LOL at myself) and my first victim is 4minute (포미닛) of Cube Entertainment.

4 Minutes Left: First Full Length Album

Start of Review: 09-28-11
End of Review: 09-30-11

First Impression:

  • Just another K-pop Girl Group with only one thing that separates them from the rest: sexiness.
  • Their member Gyoona‘s high-pitched voice is irritating.
  • Hyuna, whom I think is their most popular member, looks bitchy.
  • Their use of the English language is a massacre. It’s senseless & their pronunciation must be worked on.
  • They look like they don’t know what they’re doing exactly. Like the English phrases of their song kind of hinders them from understanding everything entirely.

4minute Members

Realization:
  • They’re constantly compared to 2NE1 because of the strong female image they both exude. But 4minute’s sexy twist draws the line.
  • They don’t easily fade in the background (compared to other girl groups that ain’t 2ne1, let’s be honest) because their voices are actually good. No wonder a lot of people really liked them.
  • Their music is actually the best of both worlds in the K-pop music industry. They have the right combination of girly dance music that is fun and the RnB-fuse flavoured music that sets the right beat.
  • I couldn’t stop playing their songs the past couple of days! I have overlooked these girls way too much!
  • I am not taking back, anyhow, my comment on their use of the English language. Insensible and terrible pronunciation. When I was listening to one of their hits, I My Me Mine, they were singing something that sounded like “…li-li-li-li-listen, click click click click!” and when I looked up for the romanized and English lyrics of that song (and the others too, of course) it actually said “…re-re-re-re-reset, click click click!” and I couldn’t help myself but find that very funny! 😀
  • As for Gyoona, I appreciate her voice now though sometimes it’s still making me cringe; not really the typical high-note reacher. And Hyuna? Oh sexy! I just love her legs now, hahaha!
Verdict: 4 stars! ♥

안녕하세요!

Google Translate, my buddy, told me that it’s “Hello!” in Korean. 🙂

Last night, I thought of something that might bring my blog into life. Something that actually force the rocks of my brain and have a little fire ignited all right.

So here it is, The Korean Pop Wave.

I thought of doing so because of my brother who is ever so obsessed with this genre est. 2009. Korean music is indeed very entertaining but I find his obsession circling beyond that. He even watches variety shows that are in Korean!

He is not the only one though.

I had classmates who actually express themselves the way Koreans do. The people I met in Tumblr consider Kpop Music as their picker-upper during their break up nights and it’s crazy weird.

Not that I do not like Kpop, I do. I have some groups that I listen to but my fascination with them is limited with their music and looks. I do not even know most of their names and consider that one as a chore.

So two days ago I decided to try listening to some of these “idol groups” that I might have overlooked because of i.e. one of their member’s very high-pitched voice or how much they looked stupid singing English phrases that they seems ignorant about.

Now my plan’s this: I will be downloading songs from a certain group and appreciate. Create another blog entry (perhaps after 3 days of downloading) about this group and the ones that will follow. Hence, a review. 🙂

I know I have a lack of follow-through but I hope I can make this project a success. 🙂

Busy Getting Stronger

A Little Bit Stronger

— Sara Evans
— Covered by Leighton Meester for the movie Country Strong

Woke up late today and I still feel the sting of the pain
But I brushed my teeth anyway
I got dressed through the mess and put a smile on my face
I got a little bit stronger

Riding in the car to work and I’m trying to ignore the hurt
So I turned on the radio, stupid song made me think of you
I listened to it for minute but I changed it
I’m getting a little bit stronger, just a little bit stronger

And I’m done hoping that we could work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I’m done thinking that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger

Doesn’t happen overnight but you turn around
And a month’s gone by and you realize you haven’t cried
I’m not giving you a hour or a second or another minute longer
I’m busy getting stronger

And I’m done hoping that we can work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I’m done thinking, that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay
Even on my weakest days, I get a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger

Getting along without you, baby
I’m better off without you, baby
How does it feel without me, baby?
I’m getting stronger without you, baby

And I’m done hoping we could work it out
I’m done with how it feels, spinning my wheels
Letting you drag my heart around
And, oh, I’m done thinking that you could ever change

I know my heart will never be the same
But I’m telling myself I’ll be okay
Even on my weakest days
I get a little bit stronger

I get a little bit stronger
Just a little bit stronger
A little bit, a little bit, a little bit stronger
I get a little bit stronger

I don’t know why and how, but this song just covers all of my dimensions perfectly.

After The Storm

Another typhoon had once again hit the greater area of Luzon and affected hundreds of citizens. Infrastructures were torn down, as well as electricity posts which caused hours of darkness during the hype of the calamity. The weather was very inclement that schools, colleges and universities had to cancel classes. The severe downpour of rain water caused rivers, dams and bays to actually overflow and affect the people living near the said areas.

Manila Bay during the typhoon

But despite the severity of the weather, God still kept my family close and safe. And we are indeed very grateful. After 15 hours of no electricity, we kept ourselves busy and warm inside with loud music, flashlights, colored and scented candles, and yes, comfy pillows.

But of course, yesterday was not a time for a whole day slumber party. Not everyone was as safe as we were. Not everyone lived in a place were puddles existed instead of floods. I know I should be happy that we were all safe after what happened yesterday but still, my heart goes out to those who were affected badly; to those who lost their homes, their businesses, and even their loved ones. Even if I do not personally know you, I want to let you all know that God will forever be by your side no matter how much the storm intensifies  until it wears down.

For a true believer, there’s a light that never goes out. 🙂

PS. Prepare for the next typhoon. Expected landfall is on Friday. Keep safe everyone. God is within us 🙂
